Full Aperture: Super 8 Films by Melisa Aller (2018)

Award-winning filmmaker and visual artist Melisa Aller presents a selection of her Super 8 films, shot and edited in camera without digital intervention. Aller’s work explores gender identity and conceptions of body, with a keen focus on queerness. Her first feature, Las Decisiones Formales (Formal Decisions) was shot chronologically using 22 rolls of film spliced together. The program will include selected award-winning short films as well.

Aller is based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her work has been shown at festivals and exhibitions in the United States, China, Cuba, India, Russia, Puerto Rico, Spain, Poland, England, Germany, Italy Guatemala, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, and Argentina. She is currently filming her second feature film, Las Instancias del Fuego.
