The Fly (1986)

During the height of his horror filmmaking, director David Cronenberg took on the great task of adapting the Vincent Price-led The Fly, and who better to play an eccentric scientist but Jeff Goldblum? After completing his teleportation device, Seth Brundle (Goldblum) uses himself as a test subject and unknowingly joins an errant fly in the machine. The hybridization of human and fly begins to manifest physically in Brundle. The gruesome transformation of Brundle into the Brundlefly garnered a well-deserved Academy Award for makeup and started Goldblum down the path of many scientist roles.
