Programs

True Orleans

Our annual documentary film festival, celebrating innovative, creative nonfiction storytelling in film, radio, and other avenues. The third annual True Orleans Film Festival will take place in 2017.

Full Aperture

An ongoing series of personal films that intersect the worlds of avant-garde art, photography, and performance, expanding our ideas of the function and artistry of cinema.

Special screenings

Nontraditional, unique, and unforgettable presentations of films that demand more than a conventional screening room to resonate.

Education

With our regular blog, newsletter highlighting film news and local screenings, and programming notes for all films, we work to build film literacy and encourage local filmgoing habits. Beginning in 2017, we are working with Bard Early College New Orleans to host screenings for their students in conjunction with their current curriculum.

Rentals

We offer our equipment and experience to local, regional, and national presenters, in order to increase access to high-quality film exhibition.

Travis Bird, Technical Director

Co-founder Travis Bird coordinates tech and grant writing for Shotgun Cinema, among other duties. He works extensively in film exhibition as a projectionist, technician, and schlepper. He has projected films on 35mm, 16mm, and digital formats at several major film festivals around the U.S. and Canada, including Telluride, Sundance, Milwaukee, True/False, Ebertfest, Palm Springs, Media City, and, of course, New Orleans.
